123Carbon and AllChiefs partner to accelerate adoption of carbon insetting in the transport and logistics sector
Schiphol-Oost / Rotterdam, April 14th 2022
123Carbon, the first, independent carbon insetting platform for multimodal transportation, and AllChiefs, a consultancy firm which specialises in sustainable logistics, announce their partnership to accelerate the adoption of carbon insetting in the transport and logistics sector. Carbon insetting allows organisations to monetise, regulate and monitor the GHG reductions within their supply chain.
AllChiefs will act as a preferred consulting partner for the 123Carbon platform, enabling customers to decarbonize their supply chains and reduce emissions through carbon insets. By combining 123Carbon’s unique platform and standardised implementation approach with AllChiefs’ strong consulting skills, companies can access a one-stop-shop to develop, implement and execute carbon insetting strategies efficiently.
This partnership allows 123Carbon to fulfill the high market demand for carbon insetting services within the transportation and logistics sector, by creating and selling high quality insets based on driving transparency and adhering to the latest industry standards.
Jeroen van Heiningen, Managing Director at 123Carbon commented on the partnership: “Together with AllChiefs, 123Carbon can address a rapidly growing need for carbon insetting knowledge, services and high-end tools within the transportation and logistics sector. Reducing emissions throughout the supply chain is critical for the industry to reach its decarbonization targets, and we strongly believe that carbon insetting is a major driver to accelerate the journey to net zero.”
Bonne Goedhart, co-leader Sustainable Logistics at AllChiefs: “AllChiefs helps companies globally to decarbonize their global supply chains, from strategy and target setting to implementation. Having a platform in place that allows companies to correctly buy or sell carbon insets to supply chain partners allows them to accelerate the transition to net zero logistics.”
Both companies are active partners of Smart Freight Centre (SFC), a global non-profit organization focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from freight transportation, including standard setting for emission calculation and reporting and guidelines for topics such as insetting. SFC developed the widely adopted GLEC Framework, which is used as a basis for the recently launched ISO14083.
Alan Lewis, technical director at Smart Freight Centre commented: “It is inspiring to see two Smart Freight Centre partners joining forces to accelerate the adoption of carbon insetting in the transport and logistics sector. This partnership embraces the SFC guidance and will help accelerate the journey to net zero in the transportation market using carbon insetting solutions.”
123Carbon and AllChiefs will present their first projects together at Smart Freight Week, organized by Smart Freight Centre, which takes place in Amsterdam from April 18th to 21st.
123Carbon was founded to accelerate the decarbonisation of transportation. The industry needs to be able to make investments in carbon reduction projects on behalf of customers and beyond, and allocate the resulting carbon reductions to organisations wishing to pay for their transportation emissions. That solution is called carbon insetting.
Developed collaboratively with the industry for the industry, 123Carbon provides the first independent one-stop shop for carbon insetting, empowering organisations to own, manage, allocate or buy verified CO2 reductions within their supply chain.
